Safety always comes first.

After suffering countless injuries - usually on account of recklessness - in his still-very-young career, maybe Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper has finally gotten the message.

He came to the ballpark Tuesday prepared to celebrate an NL East division title. When the Nationals locked it up with a 3-0 win over the Atlanta Braves, it was time to party. But not, of course, without the proper protective equipment.

In Harper's case, that's a customized D.C. fireman's helmet with his name and No. 34 etched into it.

Stay safe, Bryce. The postseason awaits.
