The 26-year-old right-hander was scratched from from Tuesday's start against the Washington Nationals due to shoulder soreness and a subsequent exam by teams doctors compelled the Mets to shut the talented rookie down for at least 15 days.
Selected in the ninth round of the 2010 draft, deGrom has managed a tidy 2.87 ERA (124 ERA+) with a 1.23 WHIP through 16 starts with the Mets this season.
The club promoted Rafael Montero from Triple-A Las Vegas to take deGrom's spot on the active roster.
