Jordan Schafer: Designated For Assignment

The Braves designated Schafer for assignment Friday.

Analysis:

Emilio Bonifacio was acquired from the Cubs prior to Thursday's deadline, and thus Schafer became expendable. The 27-year-old's opportunities with Atlanta this season were few and far between, and he hit just .163/.256/.213, but Schafer did some damage against right-handers last season (.265/.355/.380) and can wreak some havoc on the basepaths, so it would be a surprise if he passed through waivers unclaimed.
