Josh Beckett: (Hip) Treated With Cortisone Shot
Beckett underwent an MRI on Tuesday, which revealed "hip impingement syndrome," Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports. He was treated with a cortisone injection.
Analysis:
In theory, the cortisone shot should help speed up Beckett's recovery, with the hope being that he'll be ready to return from the DL when eligible July 22. The right-hander was placed on the 15-day DL earlier Tuesday, but with the All-Star break built in, Beckett may end up missing just one turn in the rotation.
