Analysis:
Though he struggled in a Sunday rehab outing for Low-A Quad Cities, Bass made it through two innings without incident. He's been out since mid-May due to an intercostal strain, but should be back with the Astros either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. With Chad Qualls faring well in the closer's role, Bass is unlikely to pick up anything more than the occasional stray save. Even a late-inning role may be a bit much for Bass to ask for, as Tony Sipp and Darin Downs have provided the Astros with a bit of stability in the bullpen.
