GIF: Ejection shocks Phillies' Hernandez

Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Roberto Hernandez was apparently caught off guard when home-plate umpire Mark Ripperger ejected him from Friday's clash with the Chicago Cubs after the veteran right-hander hit Starlin Castro with a pitch in the sixth inning.

Ripperger presumably felt Hernandez's errant pitch was retaliation for Castro's fourth-inning homer, a two-run shot that afforded the Cubs an early 2-0 lead.
Casto homered against Hernandez in his last at-bat, but no warning or anything. Just ejected. Immediately.

Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg was equally incredulous, and was also ejected from the game after voicing his displeasure with Ripperger.
