Braves move Alex Wood to bullpen with return of Gavin Floyd
Daniel Shirey / USA TODAY Sports
Atlanta Braves pitcher Alex Wood has been moved to the bullpen, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis:
With Gavin Floyd back from the DL, the Braves have decided to move Wood to the bullpen, at least temporarily, and go with a traditional five-man rotation. The team had left this option on the table as a way to manage the 23-year-old's innings after he maxed out at 139.2 innings last season, but it still comes as a bit of a surprise given how well he's pitched thus far (3.00 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 8.8 K/9). Chances are, Wood will find his way back into the rotation before too long.
