The stateside courtship of prized Japanese hurler Masahiro Tanaka is poised to begin shortly, according to David Waldstein of the New York Times, as the 25-year-old right-hander reportedly touched down in Los Angeles early Thursday morning.
Tanaka, who has until Jan. 24 to consummate a deal with a major-league club, will reportedly meet first with the Cubs and White Sox, according to ESPN's AJ Mass, but is expected to meet with representatives from myriad teams, including the Mariners, Angels, Yankees, Dodgers and Diamondbacks.
According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the highly-coveted hurler "may have as many as five or six meetings planned per day, and the meetings are definitely continuing today."
