Report: Phillies re-sign C Carlos Ruiz to three-year, $26-million deal

The Philadelphia Phillies have reportedly agreed to terms with one of their own free agents, and will welcome back "Chooch" to the lineup for the next three years.

Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Carlos Ruiz has signed a three-year, $26 million contract to return behind the plate for the Phils.

Ruiz was an all-star for the Phillies in 2012, and has posted a .274/.358/.412 line in eight seasons with the club, compiling 18.5 Wins Above Replacement according to Fangraphs, while providing 32 Defensive Runs Saved above average.

The veteran catcher turns 35 in January, he missed time last season with a hamstring strain, and was suspended for the first 25 games of the season for testing positive for amphetamine.
