The Kansas City Royals and veteran outfielder Starling Marte agreed to a one-year contract, sources told Anne Rogers of MLB.com.

The financial terms of the deal aren't known yet.

Marte reportedly joins an outfield group that is projected to include Jac Caglianone, Isaac Collins, Kyle Isbel, and Lane Thomas on Opening Day.

The 37-year-old Marte spent the last four seasons with the New York Mets, suiting up in just 396 games due to injuries. He slashed .270/.335/.410 with nine homers and 34 RBIs over 98 contests in 2025.

The two-time All-Star has gone deep 163 times with 361 stolen bases across 14 years with the Mets, Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates, Miami Marlins, and Arizona Diamondbacks.
