Report: D-Backs, McCann agree to 1-year, $2.75M deal
The Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to a one-year, $2.75-million deal with free-agent catcher James McCann, according to Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic.
McCann can reportedly earn an additional $500,000 in bonuses.
The 35-year-old veteran backstop appeared in 42 games for the D-Backs last season, authoring a .260/.324/.431 slash line with five homers and 17 RBIs in 137 plate appearances.
McCann appeared in 40 games - 35 starts - behind the dish and should act as a backup to starter Gabriel Moreno.
James McCann hit .260/.324/.431 (107 OPS+) with the D-backs in 2025 and drew high praise from the pitching staff.

Given Gabriel Moreno's difficulties staying on the field over the past few years, the D-backs invest in a second catcher at what feels like a reasonable cost. https://t.co/PbKywnPnZV
McCann, an All-Star in 2019, has played 12 seasons in the majors for various clubs.
