Yankees release Stroman in post-deadline roster shuffle
The New York Yankees released right-hander Marcus Stroman on Friday amid a series of roster moves.
The Yankees let Stroman go after adding trade deadline acquisitions David Bednar, Camilo Doval, and José Caballero to the active roster.
New York spoke with other teams about Stroman before the deadline but couldn't line up with anyone on a deal, reports ESPN's Buster Olney.
The 34-year-old made his last start for New York on Thursday, allowing four earned runs in five innings while striking out three.
Stroman posted a 6.23 ERA and 5.15 FIP during the second year of the two-year, $37-million deal he inked with the Yankees ahead of the 2024 campaign.
The 11-year veteran owns a 3.79 career ERA. He's made the All-Star team twice and finished eighth in AL Cy Young voting in 2017 with the Toronto Blue Jays. He won a Gold Glove that same season.
