Mets acquire Tyler Rogers from Giants for 3 players
The New York Mets fortified their bullpen by acquiring right-hander Tyler Rogers from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for right-hander José Buttó, right-hander Blade Tidwell, and outfielder Drew Gilbert, the teams announced.
Rogers is in the midst of a career year, authoring a 1.80 ERA in an MLB-leading 53 games. The workhorse has led his league in appearances on three other occasions during his seven-year career.
The 34-year-old sidearmer joins a Mets bullpen that's missing several pieces due to injury.

Twin brothers Taylor and Tyler Rogers were both traded on July 30. On the SNY broadcast, Gary Cohen said they are the fifth brothers to be traded on the same day.
Buttó has been an effective bullpen arm for the Mets this season. The 27-year-old posted a 3.64 ERA and 3.37 FIP in 47 innings during his fourth campaign with New York.
The 24-year-old Gilbert was a first-round draft choice of the Houston Astros in 2022. The Mets acquired him from Houston in a 2023 deal involving Justin Verlander.
Gilbert slashed .255/.356/.455 with 14 home runs and 52 RBIs in the minors this season.
Tidwell was selected in the second round of the 2022 draft by the Mets. He appeared in four big-league games with New York (9.00 ERA) and also threw 79 Triple-A innings for Syracuse (4.10 ERA) this season.
The Giants designated right-hander Sean Hjelle for assignment to open a 40-man roster spot following the trade.
