Royals promote top prospect Caglianone
The Kansas City Royals are calling up slugging top prospect Jac Caglianone, the club announced Monday.
Outfielder Dairon Blanco was optioned to Triple-A Omaha to make room on the roster.
The No. 6 pick from the 2024 draft is slashing .322/.389/.593 with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs in 50 games between Double-A and Triple-A this season. He went deep six times with a 1.093 OPS in 12 contests after moving up to Triple-A on May 18.
Caglianone, who's played first base and in the outfield in the minor leagues, is the No. 10-ranked prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.
Kansas City will be looking for the 22-year-old to kick-start its struggling offense. The Royals sit last in the majors with a combined 34 homers to go along with the fourth-worst slugging percentage (.359).
