Brewers' Contreras signs 1-year deal worth reported $6M to avoid arbitration
The Milwaukee Brewers and catcher William Contreras have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract with a club option, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Contreras will earn $6 million in 2025, and the club option is worth $12 million, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. The Venezuelan filed at $6.5 million compared to the Brewers' $5.6 million, Feinsand adds.
Contreras slashed .281/.365/.466 en route to earning his second consecutive Silver Slugger last season. He was also named an All-Star for the second time in his career.
The 27-year-old was third on the Brewers with 23 home runs in 2024. Contreras was tops on the team with a fWAR of 5.4.
Contreras owns a career slash line of .277/.358/.465 with 68 home runs since debuting with the Atlanta Braves in 2020.
