Athletics ship Blackburn to Mets for pitching prospect

The Oakland Athletics traded right-hander Paul Blackburn to the New York Mets for pitching prospect Kade Morris, the clubs announced Tuesday.
Blackburn made his first start Friday in over two months after returning from a stress reaction in his right foot.
The 2022 All-Star has amassed a 4.41 ERA with 1.16 WHIP and 38 strikeouts over 51 innings (nine starts) this season. The 30-year-old is arbitration-eligible through the 2025 campaign.
Morris owns a 3.51 ERA with 9.3 K/9 across 92 1/3 innings in Single-A in 2024. The 22-year-old was the No. 26-ranked prospect in the Mets' minor-league system, according to Baseball America.
