Guerrero: Blue Jays must 'get better at everything'

First baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. didn't hold back when assessing the Toronto Blue Jays following their crushing 7-6 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Monday.

"Everything, everything, everything - we've got to get better at everything right now," Guerrero said through an interpreter, according to MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. "Winning games. That's what we need to get better at. Winning games."

Toronto fell to a seventh consecutive defeat Monday. It held a 6-2 lead entering the eighth inning after Guerrero crushed a 471-foot home run out of Fenway Park in the seventh.

Miscommunication between third baseman Addison Barger and shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa on a Jarren Duran pop-up allowed the Red Sox to record a four-run eighth inning. Boston then walked off Toronto in the ninth for the victory.

The Blue Jays' letdown spoiled another solid outing from Chris Bassitt, who hasn't won a start since June 2 despite allowing a combined five runs in 26 innings across his last four appearances.

"We just got to win," Bassitt said. "Starting tomorrow, we have to win."

The Blue Jays play Game 2 of their series with the Red Sox on Tuesday. Toronto is 0-4 against Boston this season.
