Orioles' Bradish pulled after 7 no-hit innings vs. White Sox

The Baltimore Orioles removed Kyle Bradish from Sunday's start despite the right-hander holding the Chicago White Sox hitless through seven innings.

Bradish threw 103 pitches and tied his career high with 11 strikeouts. Danny Coulombe replaced Bradish to start the eighth inning.

"I kind of figured coming off 103 pitches or whatever, especially coming off an elbow injury," Bradish said, according to MASN's Roch Kubatko. "I think once you get to the 100-mark, finishing an inning is where you're at."

Coulombe promptly allowed Chicago's first hit and run of the game when White Sox infielder Danny Mendick belted a home run to begin the eighth.

Following the game, Coulombe said he felt "sick" for allowing the home run and that Bradish deserved the no-hitter, according to Kubatko.

Sunday's start was Bradish's fifth of the season after he missed the beginning of the year with a UCL sprain in his right elbow. The 27-year-old lowered his ERA to 1.75 on the campaign with the performance, and it was his first outing pitching more than five innings this year.

The Orioles defeated the White Sox 4-1 to complete a four-game sweep.

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol took his team to task for its effort Sunday and throughout the weekend.

"(Garrett) Crochet pitched his ass off," Grifol said, per MLB.com's Scott Merkin. "We got no-hit through (seven). We had a pinch-hitter break it up. The rest of the guys … Not the rest of the guys. Most of the guys were f-----g flat today. Unacceptable. That's all I got."
