Padres promote former closer Hoffman
Former San Diego Padres closer Trevor Hoffman is getting promoted.

Hoffman retired as the Padres all-time saves leader, converting 552 of 601 career save opportunities.
The Padres retired Hoffman's number 51 in 2011.
