Colorado Rockies first baseman Kris Bryant admitted to receiving death threats during his career following Friday's home opener win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

"I've been through it all," Bryant said, according to Fox 31 Denver KDVR's Dave Althouse. "Death threats, kill yourself. All the craziness that this game will dish out.

"I've been trying to talk with these young guys. Nolan (Jones) was going through it early on. I just told him, 'It takes courage to keep showing up, and it's going to make you a better person at the end of your career.' And it's something that I'll be able to teach my kids through adversity, how to respond to it, and you just got to keep going."

The 32-year-old added that he couldn't say for sure if the death threats came during his Rockies tenure because he doesn't have social media during the year, although he was sure "there was something on his Instagram."

Bryant received cheers and boos from the fans during an up-and-down home opener against the Rays. The four-time All-Star hit his first home run of the campaign but also dropped a catch at first base, allowing Tampa Bay to tie the game in the ninth inning before the Rockies won on a Ryan McMahon walk-off grand slam.

The 2016 National League MVP owns a .252/.332/.396 slash line with 16 home runs and 48 RBIs in 129 games since inking a seven-year, $182-million contract with Colorado before the 2022 season.
