Angels, Hicks agree to 1-year deal reportedly worth MLB minimum
The Los Angeles Angels signed outfielder Aaron Hicks to a one-year contract, the team announced Monday.
Hicks will receive the major-league minimum salary of $740,000, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.
The 34-year-old split last season between the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles, authoring a .253/.353/.383 slash line with eight home runs and 36 RBIs in 93 games.
New York released Hicks after he posted a .524 OPS in 28 games with the franchise last season. The veteran turned things around in Baltimore, slashing .275/.381/.425 for the division-winning Orioles.
The Yankees are still paying Hicks the majority of a seven-year, $70-million contract he received in 2019.
Aaron Hicks is in agreement with the Angels as @JeffFletcherOCR reported. Will get $740K from LAA. The NYY responsible for $8.76M in 2024, plus $9.5M in 2025 and $1M on a buyout for 2026

Hicks' reported agreement gives the Angels five notable outfielders (Hicks, Mike Trout, Mickey Moniak, Taylor Ward, and Jo Adell) on the 40-man roster who will compete for spots on the Opening Day roster during spring training.
Adell, a former top prospect who the Angels selected 10th overall in the 2017 draft, is out of player options this season.
Additionally, the Angels have no plans to move Trout to a corner outfield spot following the addition of Hicks, general manager Perry Minasian said, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times.
