The World Series champion Texas Rangers agreed to a one-year deal with veteran right-hander Kirby Yates, a source told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
The deal will net Yates $4.5 million, according to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News.
Yates spent last season with the Atlanta Braves, where he posted a 3.28 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 60 1/3 innings.
The 36-year-old saved 41 games for the San Diego Padres in 2019 before injuries derailed his career for a few seasons prior to 2023.
Yates provides the Rangers with another backend option to pair with closer José Leclerc. Texas' bullpen finished 22nd in FIP, 24th in ERA, and 26th in win probability added last season.
