Blake Snell is now a two-time Cy Young winner.

Snell took home the 2023 National League Cy Young over San Francisco Giants right-hander Logan Webb and Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen.

Pitcher 1st 2nd 3rd Points
Blake Snell 28 2 204
Logan Webb 1 17 1 86
Zac Gallen 1 3 11 68
Spencer Strider (ATL) 6 9 64
Justin Steele (CHC) 1 2 32
Zack Wheeler (PHI) 4 28

"It means the work I'm putting in is paying off, it's working, and I've got to keep chasing it," Snell said after his win, according to MLB Network PR.

The 30-year-old, who is a free agent, won the AL Cy Young as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays in 2018. He joins Gaylord Perry, Pedro Martinez, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, Roy Halladay, and Max Scherzer as the seventh pitcher in MLB history to win a Cy Young in both leagues.

Snell posted a 14-9 record with a league-leading 2.25 ERA and a career-high 234 strikeouts over 180 innings for the San Diego Padres in 2023.

The southpaw started the 2023 campaign with a 1-6 record, making him the first pitcher in history to win a Cy Young after being five or more games under .500 at any point in a season, according to Opta Stats.

Snell also led the league in walks with 99, meaning his 2.25 ERA was the lowest in the divisional era (since 1969) by a player with 99 or more base on balls, according to Baseball Reference.

The Seattle native is expected to sign a lucrative long-term deal this offseason as one of the top pitchers available in free agency.
