Report: D-Backs extend GM Hazen through 2028
The Arizona Diamondbacks signed general manager Mike Hazen to a contract extension through 2028 with a club option for an additional year, sources told The Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro.
Hazen's new five-year deal replaces his current one, which had him signed through next year with a club option for 2025.
Arizona hired Hazen in 2016 after he spent time with the Cleveland Guardians and Boston Red Sox. The Diamondbacks have had winning records in four of Hazen's seven seasons with the team.
The executive took a leave of absence from his role as general manager in June 2021 for personal reasons.
Arizona is in the midst of a turnaround campaign and is playing in the postseason after winning 84 games. The team lost 110 contests in 2021.
The Diamondbacks also extended the contracts of assistant GMs Amiel Sawdaye and Mike Fitzgerald, according to Piecoro.
