The Diamondbacks, who were once leading the NL West and considered to be one of the biggest early-season surprises in baseball, are in the middle of an eight-game losing streak that's crippling their hopes of making the playoffs.

Before their July 31 game versus the Giants - the last game they won - the D-Backs were +145 to make the playoffs on theScore Bet, which equates to an implied probability of 40.8%. Now they are +400 and have seen their implied probability cut in half.

Arizona's odds to win its division is by far the most staggering move. Not only are the D-Backs 1-9 in their last 10 games, but the Dodgers have gone 9-1 over the same stretch, including their two most recent wins over Arizona, to create an 11.5-game lead over the Diamondbacks in the NL West.

With their 57-58 record, the D-Backs' only real shot at converting their hot start into a successful season is via a wild-card berth. They sit 2.5 games behind the Marlins for the final spot but also have to vault over the Reds and Cubs in the process.

Arizona will look to end its skid as it begins a crucial three-game set at home versus the NL West rival Padres on Friday night.
