Rob Manfred is expected to receive majority support from owners to be re-elected as Major League Baseball commissioner when a vote takes place next week, Evan Drellich and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic report.

"No doubt, there never was," a source told Drellich and Rosenthal. "It's a foregone conclusion."

Manfred's current contract ends January 25, 2025. However, his 18-month window to be re-elected for another term reportedly starts Tuesday.

The 64-year-old's first two terms as commissioner were for five years. He was elected to replace Bud Selig for the 2015 campaign.

MLB's revenue has improved since Manfred arrived, earning over $10.8 billion in 2022, Drellich and Rosenthal add. He's been responsible for several significant changes, such as the addition of wild-card teams, universal designated hitter, ghost runner on second in extras, pitch clock, ban on sticky substances, bigger bases, and removal of extreme defensive shifts.
