The Los Angeles Angels placed third baseman Anthony Rendon on the injured list for the third time this season, the team announced Friday.

Rendon is sidelined with a left shin contusion and sustained the injury after he fouled a ball off his leg during an at-bat against the San Diego Padres on July 4. The 33-year-old was replaced in the middle of the plate appearance by Eduardo Escobar and didn't appear in any of the following three games that led into the break. He underwent further testing and the Angels determined there is no fracture, according to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.

The two-time Silver Slugger also missed time this year due to groin and wrist injuries. He's appeared in 43 of the Angels' 91 games this year, hitting .236/.361/.318 with two homers.

Rendon's placement on the 10-day IL was part of a flurry of moves exiting the All-Star break, as left-handed starter Matt Moore and infielder Zach Neto were also reinstated.

The Angels also outrighted David Fletcher to Triple-A Salt Lake to make room for third baseman Trey Cabbage, who was selected and added to the 40-man roster. Infielder Michael Stefanic was also recalled while right-handed rookie starter Sam Bachman landed on the 15-day IL with right shoulder inflammation.

The Halos kick off the second half of the season Friday with a three-game set against the division-rival Houston Astros.
