Braves' Fried lands on IL with forearm strain
The Atlanta Braves placed left-hander Max Fried on the 15-day injured list with a strained left forearm, the team announced Tuesday.
The move is backlisted to May 6.
Atlanta doesn't believe the 29-year-old needs Tommy John surgery, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Fried's MRI didn't create any concern about possibly needing a second TJ surgery. He will be shut down from throwing until his forearm heals. He'll then have to build back up and basically go through Spring Training again. So, timetable is TBD. But this won't be a short-term IL

Fried, the reigning National League Cy Young runner-up and Gold Glove winner, has authored a 2.08 ERA with 1.07 WHIP and 25 strikeouts over 26 innings (five starts) this season.
The Braves recalled left-hander Danny Young to take Fried's spot on the active major-league roster.
