Report: Padres add Odor on minor-league deal
The San Diego Padres added journeyman second baseman Rougned Odor on a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training, according to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com.
Odor, 29, already has a locker in the Padres' spring clubhouse at Peoria Sports Complex.
A veteran of nine seasons, Odor spent last year with the Baltimore Orioles, hitting .207/.275/.357 with 13 homers and six stolen bases over 135 games.
The infielder possesses a .712 OPS (87 OPS+) over 1,095 career contests. He spent his first seven campaigns with the Texas Rangers.
Odor will compete for playing time on a deep Padres squad that includes Ha-seong Kim and Jake Cronenworth, who can both play second and are expected to make the Opening Day roster. The camp also includes non-roster invitees Max Schrock and Tim Lopes, who are vying for a backup second-base job.
