Aaron Nola played a big part in the Philadelphia Phillies' success in 2022 as the team finished two wins shy of a World Series title, so it's no wonder president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said the club would like to keep him aboard for the long haul.

"It's something we'd like to do," Dombrowski told 94 WIP Sportsradio's Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie on Thursday when asked about a contract extension for Nola.

"We want Aaron to be in the organization for a long time, there's no question about that. We love him. We love his abilities. I know he likes it in Philadelphia. So, that's something that will be in our mind.

"It's never easy to be able to get (an extension) done, but we'd love to keep Aaron in the organization for a long time."

Nola finished fourth in National League Cy Young voting last year following a stellar campaign in which he led his league in fWAR among starters and posted a 3.25 ERA, 2.58 FIP, 0.96 WHIP, and 10.3 K/9 across 205 innings.

The 29-year-old, who's eligible for free agency at the end of the upcoming season, has spent his entire career with the Phillies after they selected him with the seventh pick of the 2014 draft.

A number of Philadelphia's top players are under long-term contracts, including Bryce Harper, J.T. Realmuto, and newly signed Trea Turner.
