The New York Mets have remained in contact with free agents Andrew McCutchen and Trey Mancini, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

Mancini played his first two major-league campaigns with Mets manager Buck Showalter as his skipper when the two were members of the Baltimore Orioles.

Mancini, who can man first base or suit up in the outfield, went deep 17 times with 63 RBIs and a .710 OPS over 143 games during a down year between the Orioles and Houston Astros last season. The 30-year-old has hit 20-plus homers four times during his six-year career, including 35 in 2019.

Meanwhile, McCutchen is 52 hits away from 2,000 for his career. The 2013 NL MVP is also 13 homers from reaching 300.

The 36-year-old designated hitter/outfielder recorded 17 round-trippers with 69 RBIs and a .700 OPS over 134 contests in 2022 for the Milwaukee Brewers. The five-time All-Star has also played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees, and Philadelphia Phillies over his 14-year career.
