Report: Cubs, Taillon agree to 4-year, $68M deal
The Chicago Cubs have reached an agreement with free-agent right-hander Jameson Taillon, sources told ESPN's Jesse Rogers and Jeff Passan.
It's a four-year deal that'll pay him $68 million, Rogers and Passan report.
Taillon reportedly drew interest from several other teams in free agency, including the New York Mets and Texas Rangers. However, the Cubs were the only team that met with him in person, a source told Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
Taillon adds another veteran arm to the middle of the Cubs' rotation behind Marcus Stroman and Kyle Hendricks.
The 31-year-old spent the last two seasons with the New York Yankees, where he posted a 4.08 ERA in 61 regular-season starts.
A former top pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Taillon owns a lifetime 51-35 record with a 3.84 ERA, 3.80 FIP, and 710 strikeouts over 143 big-league appearances.
