2022 All-MLB team: 6 Astros honored, Freeman earns 4th selection

Major League Baseball announced the fourth annual All-MLB teams Monday, with 16 players each making up the first and second teams.

The World Series champion Houston Astros were well represented, with a league-best six players across both teams, while five members of the 111-win Los Angeles Dodgers were chosen to lead NL clubs. No other team had more than three selections this year.

Realmuto now has three All-MLB selections, and joins Salvador Perez as a two-time first-team selection at catcher. Both league MVP's, Judge and Goldschmidt, were easy choices for the first team.

Alcantara, the NL Cy Young winner, is the first Marlins player to earn an All-MLB Team nod. Ohtani was selected as a first-team pitcher and second-team DH, reversing his selections from last season. Verlander and Valdez are the second set of Astros pitchers to earn first-team spots in the same season, after Verlander and Gerrit Cole did it in 2019.

Freeman becomes the first player with four career All-MLB nods. He's been a second-team choice three times, and was on the first team during his MVP campaign of 2020. Rodriguez is the fourth Rookie of the Year winner to land on the All-MLB Team. Gimenez, along with first-team reliever Clase, are the first two Guardians players to earn this honor.

Scherzer joins Gerrit Cole and Liam Hendriks as the only three-time All-MLB pitchers. This is his first time landing on the second team. Urias is a second-team selection for the second consecutive seasons.
