Los Angeles Angels general manager Perry Minasian blames himself for his club's poor play this season.

"It's on me. It's 100% on me," Minasian said Tuesday, according to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. "I'm in charge of the roster. Coaches can only work with what I give them. I'm very cognizant of that. … Our depth is not good enough. It has not been good enough."

The Angels (38-50) sit fourth in the AL West after going 11-33 in their last 44 games following a hot start to the 2022 campaign. The poor stretch cost manager Joe Maddon his job in early June.

Los Angeles' struggles come amid MVP-caliber performances from Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout. The former has gone deep 19 times with an .830 OPS and has a 2.44 ERA with 12.3 K/9 on the mound, while the latter is slashing .270/.368/.599 with 24 homers and 51 RBIs over 79 games. Despite their contributions, the team is in the bottom third for offensive rating, according to FanGraphs.

Minasian didn't add much help to the lineup in the offseason. However, he signed Noah Syndergaard, Michael Lorenzen, Raisel Iglesias, and Aaron Loup to bolster the pitching staff. The four players have combined for 2.3 fWAR in 2022.
