The Milwaukee Brewers acquired catcher Victor Caratini and cash from the San Diego Padres for outfield prospect Korry Howell and catching prospect Brett Sullivan, the Brewers announced Wednesday.
The trade gives the Brewers another backstop after Pedro Severino was suspended 80 games for a PED violation.
Caratini played in a career-high 116 games last season for the Padres, hitting seven homers with 39 RBIs and a .632 OPS.
Howell, 23, hit 16 homers with a .805 OPS between Single-A and Double-A in 2021, while the 28-year-old Sullivan played in Triple-A last season and has spent his entire career in the minors.
