As he enters the final season of his contract, Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Trea Turner is yet to receive a formal long-term extension offer from the club.

"It's like I talked about before, (I'm open to) having talks if they want to have them, and if not, let's go play baseball," Turner said Tuesday, according to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times. "So no talks, no nothing. We're ready to go play."

Turner signed a one-year, $21-million contract in March to avoid arbitration and is scheduled to hit free agency following the season.

The Dodgers acquired the reigning NL batting champion alongside Max Scherzer in a blockbuster deal with the Washington Nationals last season.

With the departure of Corey Seager to the Texas Rangers this offseason, Turner is set to shift back to his customary perch at shortstop after playing second base for Los Angeles in 2021.

"I love it," Turner said. "Second base, I think I said it numerous times, it just felt so weird, out of place. But it was what was asked of me, so I tried to do the best I could. I'm really excited to go back (to shortstop)."

The 28-year-old is projected to hit third in the Dodgers' stacked lineup behind Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.
