Report: Marlins discussed Reynolds trade with Pirates

The Miami Marlins talked to the Pittsburgh Pirates about acquiring All-Star outfielder Bryan Reynolds prior to the lockout, a source told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

The Marlins are reportedly eyeing another impact bat/starting outfielder.

Reynolds collected 24 home runs, 90 RBIs, and an MLB-best eight triples to go along with a .912 OPS in 159 games last season. Only eight players in all of baseball finished the campaign with a higher fWAR than his 5.5.

The 27-year-old is projected to make $4.5 million next season and is arbitration-eligible through 2025.

The New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners were also rumored to be interested in Reynolds before the collective bargaining agreement expired.

Meanwhile, the Marlins reportedly expressed interest in Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Ketel Marte early in the offseason.

Miami already added Avisail Garcia to its outfield via a multi-year deal in free agency.
