Yankees DFA Clint Frazier
The New York Yankees designated outfielder Clint Frazier for assignment on Friday, the team announced.
Frazier appeared in 66 games for the Yankees in 2021, hitting .186/.317/.317 with five home runs and 15 RBIs. Those numbers were significantly lower than his production in 2020 when he slashed .267/.394/.511 with eight homers and 26 RBIs in 39 games.
The 2013 first-round draft choice arrived in New York with huge expectations after he was acquired in a 2016 trade with Cleveland.
Frazier struggled with concussion issues throughout his time in New York. He missed the final three months of the 2021 campaign because of dizziness and vision-related issues.
In addition to Frazier, the Yankees designated infielders Rougned Odor and Tyler Wade for assignment.
Odor, 27, hit .202/.286/.379 with 15 homers and 39 RBIs in 102 games for the Yankees after they acquired him from the Texas Rangers on April 6.
The 26-year-old Wade spent the past five seasons with New York after he was drafted by the Yankees in the fourth round of the 2013 draft. The utility player hit .212/.298/.307 with 33 RBIs and 30 steals during his time in the Bronx.
