Fernando Tatis Jr. is on the mend after another scary injury.
San Diego Padres manager Jayce Tingler said Friday that the star shortstop has made "very significant" improvements with his shoulder, according to Dennis Lin of The Athletic.
Tingler added Tatis has been working in the batting cage and is close to hitting on the field again.
The 22-year-old hasn't played since partially dislocating his left shoulder in a game on July 30. It was the second injury to his shoulder this season following a subluxation in April.
The NL MVP candidate is slashing .290/.371/.650 with 31 homers and 23 stolen bases in 86 games.
