D-Backs designate Josh Reddick for assignment

The Arizona Diamondbacks designated outfielder Josh Reddick for assignment Thursday, cutting off his tenure with the team after 54 appearances.

Reddick joined Arizona in the offseason on a one-year deal worth $750,000 following four campaigns with the Houston Astros. He hit just .258/.285/.371 with two homers and 21 RBIs over 158 plate appearances for the struggling Diamondbacks.

Reddick helped the Astros win the World Series in 2017, but his offense tailed off shortly thereafter. He owns a career slash line of .262/.321/.426 and won a Gold Glove in 2012 with the Oakland Athletics.

The 34-year-old has split his 13 MLB seasons between the Boston Red Sox, Athletics, Los Angeles Dodgers, Astros, and Diamondbacks.
