Major League Baseball committed $100 million to The Players Alliance for diversity initiatives, commissioner Rob Manfred announced Monday, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

Manfred said the amount is the league's largest-ever charitable donation. He added the total could increase to $150 million over the next decade.

The Players Alliance was founded last summer with the goal of creating a more inclusive culture within baseball and the Black community.

MLB previously donated $10 million to the group, which is made up of more than 100 current and former Black professional baseball players, in September 2020.
