Tampa Bay Rays infielder Joey Wendle will be named to the American League All-Star team as a replacement on Saturday, the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin reports.

While it's unclear whom he'll replace, Houston Astros infielders Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve recently announced that they would not be taking part in the Midsummer Classic despite making the team.

This will be the 31-year-old's first All-Star appearance.

Wendle is batting .275/.337/.453 with seven home runs and 33 RBIs over 75 games. He's spent the bulk of his innings at third base but he's also played some shortstop and second base.

The lefty-hitting infielder initially broke out in 2018 when he finished fourth in AL Rookie of the Year voting.
