MLB Tuesday best bets: DeGrom will stifle Brewers' bats at home
Once again, we swept the board over the weekend with a perfect 3-0 run on our MLB picks, bringing our record to 43-22-2 over the season. Here are our favorite bets for Tuesday.
Pirates under 3.5 runs (-115) vs. Braves
One of the easiest bets on a day-to-day basis is fading the Pirates' bats. Pittsburgh seemingly can't get anything going as of late, plating two or fewer runs in seven of its last eight games. Additionally, the Pirates have scored fewer than four runs in 51 of 84 contests this season.
Ian Anderson hasn't exactly been an ace this year, but he's still posted a 3.35 ERA and has allowed two or fewer earned runs in half of his starts. The Braves' former No. 3 pick should be able to keep Pittsburgh in check in this one.
Brewers-Mets under 7 (-115)
It's Jacob deGrom Day at Citi Field, which means under bettors ought to pay attention. The Mets ace is 6-3 to the under in his nine home starts this year, and he's given up a combined nine runs through 14 starts after striking out 14 batters in his "worst" start of the year Thursday.
New York's offense hasn't had his back, scoring four or fewer runs in 11 of those 14 outings and 17 of its last 21 games overall. Meanwhile, the Brewers have plated a combined two runs in their previous two contests and will struggle to bust any under tickets on their own.
White Sox-Twins over 8 (-110)
We've been vocal backers of Carlos Rodon throughout his Cy Young-worthy campaign, and we've long been fans of Jose Berrios' profile. Yet this could be a tough spot for both emerging aces.
These two hurlers met just five days ago and allowed a combined eight runs (seven earned) through five frames in an 8-5 win for the White Sox. It was one of eight consecutive games with at least five runs for Chicago, while the Twins have averaged 5.4 runs amid a 10-5-1 over run since June 16.
That contest Thursday was among the worst of the season for both pitchers. Don't expect things to get much better Tuesday.
