Kluber out 2 months with shoulder strain; Voit has oblique injury
The New York Yankees are down two key players because of injuries.
Right-hander Corey Kluber will be out for at least two months because of a shoulder strain, manager Aaron Boone announced Wednesday, according to Lindsey Adler of The Athletic.
Boone added that Kluber will be shut down for four weeks and still needs another exam.
The two-time Cy Young winner left Tuesday's start against the Toronto Blue Jays after three innings due to right shoulder tightness. The 35-year-old owns a 3.04 ERA with 1.20 WHIP over 10 starts in 2021.
Boone also said that first baseman Luke Voit is dealing with a Grade 2 oblique strain. The 2020 AL home run champion has only played in 12 games this season after undergoing surgery to repair a partial meniscus tear in late March.
Meanwhile, slugger Giancarlo Stanton is expected to be activated Friday, according to Adler. The four-time All-Star landed on the injured list May 17 with a quad strain.
