The Toronto Blue Jays will be without Teoscar Hernandez for at least 10 days as the slugger tested positive for COVID-19, manager Charlie Montoyo said Tuesday, according to Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic.

Hernandez, 28, hasn't appeared in a game since Thursday against the Los Angeles Angels. Through seven games, Hernandez has gone 6-for-29 with one homer and two RBIs, striking out 14 times.

Montoyo added Hernandez is feeling better after initially feeling symptoms on Monday.

Hernandez was placed on the COVID-19 related IL on Friday after being exposed to the virus through someone not in the organization. Ryan Borucki and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. also landed on the list due to vaccine side effects.

Outfield prospect Josh Palacios has been getting playing time in Hernandez's place. The 25-year-old is 4-for-10 with four runs scored through his first three career games.
