The Toronto Blue Jays lost three players to the injured list on Friday, the team announced.

Toronto placed outfielder Teoscar Hernandez on the COVID-19 injured list after he had contact with a positive case outside of the team. It's not clear if Hernandez tested positive for the virus, but manager Charlie Montoyo said the team entered contact tracing, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com.

Left-hander Ryan Borucki also landed on the COVID-19 IL after experiencing side effects from his vaccination.

The Blue Jays placed right-hander Tyler Chatwood on the 10-day IL with right triceps inflammation.

Toronto recalled outfielder Josh Palacios and right-handers Ty Tice and Joel Payamps from the alternate site ahead of Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels in Dunedin.

The Blue Jays' woes continued after first pitch, as left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was removed from the contest after experiencing vaccine-related symptoms, the team announced.

Injuries have hit the Blue Jays hard in the early stages of this season. Star outfielder George Springer and veteran lefty Robbie Ray are among those who started the 2021 campaign on the IL.
