Report: Giants add former All-Star Kazmir on minors deal
The San Francisco Giants and left-hander Scott Kazmir agreed to a minor-league contract, according to Buster Olney of ESPN.
If he makes the team, Kazmir will earn a base salary of $600,000, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. His contract doesn't contain any opt-out clauses.
Kazmir, who's a three-time All-Star, hasn't pitched in the majors since 2016. However, his fastball velocity reportedly reached 92-93 mph in a recent bullpen session.
The 37-year-old hasn't been with an MLB team since the Atlanta Braves released him in March 2018.
Kazmir owns a career 4.01 ERA and 1.35 WHIP while pitching with the Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Angels, Cleveland Indians, Oakland Athletics, Houston Astros, and Los Angeles Dodgers over a 12-year run.
