Dodgers trade Sborz to Rangers, invite Matt Davidson to camp
The Los Angeles Dodgers traded right-handed reliever Josh Sborz to the Texas Rangers for minor-league pitcher Jhan Zambrano, the teams announced Tuesday.
Sborz, 27, had been designated for assignment last week to make room for Trevor Bauer on the Dodgers' 40-man roster. The former second-round pick has made 11 big-league appearances over the past two seasons, compiling a 6.08 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over that span.
Texas designated right-hander Jimmy Herget for assignment to create a 40-man roster spot for Sborz.
Zambrano, 19, last pitched in 2019 with the Rangers' Dominican Summer League affiliate, posting a 2.55 ERA with 52 strikeouts across 60 innings.
Additionally, L.A. added corner infielder Matt Davidson to its list of non-roster invitees to spring training. The 29-year-old posted a .629 OPS with three home runs in 20 games with the Cincinnati Reds last year.
