Braves hire Hall of Famer Chipper Jones as hitting coordinator
The Atlanta Braves hired Chipper Jones as their major-league hitting coordinator, the team announced on Monday.
Jones' role is a part-time position.
The 48-year-old recently worked as a special assistant with the Braves' baseball operations team, and was in a broadcast role with ESPN.
With his new coaching role, Chipper envisions being at the stadium for about 5-6 hours before most home games. He was debating whether to return to ESPN as a broadcaster before his decision was sealed with @BoogSciambi's decision to join the Cubs broadcast team.

Jones retired from baseball following the 2012 campaign.
In 19 seasons, all with the Braves, the DeLand, Florida, native hit 468 home runs while recording 1,623 RBIs. He ultimately finished with a .303 lifetime batting average.
The eight-time All-Star was named National League MVP in 1999 and won the NL batting title in 2008.
Jones, who's considered as one of the best switch-hitters of all time, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018.
He appeared on 410 of 422 ballots upon election.
