The Texas Rangers agreed to a one-year deal with free-agent outfielder David Dahl, according to the club's executive vice president of communications, John Blake.

The contract is worth around $3 million, sources told Jeff Passan of ESPN.

Dahl became a free agent after the Colorado Rockies non-tendered him in early December.

The 10th overall pick in the 2012 draft, injuries have repeatedly beset Dahl's promising career, and his 2020 campaign was a disaster. He hit .183 and failed to tally a home run in 24 games this summer before spending multiple stints on the IL and undergoing shoulder surgery in late September.

Dahl has shown flashes of his potential when healthy. He hit .302/.353/.524 with 15 home runs and 61 RBIs in 100 games in 2019 while earning a spot on the NL All-Star team.

The 26-year-old slides into the Rangers' outfield depth chart, which already includes Leody Taveras, Willie Calhoun, and slugger Joey Gallo.
